A native of Hong Kong, Dr. Tammy Lum is the founder and artistic director of the annual Hudson River Pianofest, co-founder of the American Liszt Society’s Mid-Hudson Chapter, and a member of the Rockland County Music Teachers Guild. She has conducted master classes in the U.S., Hong Kong, and China for young children, college students, professionals, and adult amateurs, as well as judging in competitions for over two decades. Dr. Lum has performed as soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Augusta Symphony Orchestra in Georgia, the Sarah Lawrence Symphony Orchestra, the Manhattan School of Music Symphony (as concerto winner), and the Nyack College String Orchestra. She has captured prizes at the New Orleans International Piano
Competition, Liederkranz Foundation Competition, and Leschetizky Foundation Competition, and has appeared at Hong Kong’s International Arts Carnival, City Hall Theatre, and Town Halls, as well as the Salle Cortot at l’École Normale in Paris. Dr. Lum was selected to perform at the College Music Society’s 50th Anniversary National Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. A tenured music professor at Nyack College, Dr. Lum holds B.M. and M.M. degrees from the Eastman School of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Manhattan School of Music; her teachers have included Barry Snyder, John Perry, Bradford Gowen, Herbert Stessin (at The Juilliard School Professional Studies Program), and Constance Keene.
