The Academy of Music Festival, a non-profit, is proud to present to Rockland County and the surrounding communities, its 10th Annual Summer Music Festival, offering an international concert series and a rich experience in solo and chamber music performance for talented young string players. These young musicians from around the globe will have to compete to spend two weeks, June 14-29th, 2008, here in Nyack, studying and performing with world-renowned musicians.

The students will spend their mornings either in practice or in lessons. In the afternoons, they will participate in master classes, chamber music coachings, chamber music rehearsals, lessons or will have free time. In the evenings, students will attend or perform in concerts. Host families will be offered free admission to performances given by the internationally recognized professional faculty and guest artists.

We are requesting each host family to house one student for two weeks and to provide him/her with breakfast. If your home is within walking distance of downtown Nyack, the student will be able to walk to the festival activities. If you live outside of the walking distance and/or your student is without a car, you will need to provide transportation to and from downtown Nyack on a daily basis.

All students under 21 are required to have signed parental consent forms, waiving the host family of any liability. The Academy of Music Festival has a medical doctor on call from 8am to 5pm and after that time, Nyack Hospital is available to the student. All students have their own health insurance.
